Their voice, in a book you can hear.
Heardloom turns one person's WhatsApp voice notes into a hardcover memoir. Every note is transcribed and dated, grouped into chapters, and each chapter has a QR code that plays their own voice.
The sample is a made-up grandmother with a synthetic voice.
How it works
Export the chat from WhatsApp
Open the chat with the person, tap their name, then Export chat and Attach Media (Android: More, Export chat, Include media). Save the ZIP.
Attach it in ChatGPT
Say “Turn Nana's voice notes into a book” and attach the ZIP. Heardloom lists who sent voice notes; you choose one person and confirm you may use their recordings.
Shape the chapters
Every note is transcribed in its own language and dated. ChatGPT reads the transcripts and suggests chapter titles; you fix any misheard word in the card.
Print it, and press play
A 6 × 9 inch hardcover arrives in about two weeks. Each chapter has a QR code: point a phone at it and hear the voice tell that chapter.
The book
- A 6 × 9 inch hardcover with a full-colour cover in plum, forest, navy or oat, the person's name and a waveform drawn from their notes.
- Dated chapters: every note's transcript under the day and time it was sent, in their own words.
- A QR code at the start of every chapter and one on the back cover for the whole archive.
- Printed and shipped by Lulu to the United States and Canada.
Private by design
- Only the person you choose is kept. The chat text, photos and videos in the export are deleted as soon as Heardloom has read who sent each voice note, and everyone else's voice notes the moment you choose.
- No voiceprints. Heardloom knows who sent each note from WhatsApp's own labels, never by analysing anyone's voice.
- Recordings are transcribed on our own server; they are never used for ads or to train AI.
- The QR codes keep working: recordings stay online for as long as you keep the memoir, and at least five years after an order. You can download them or delete everything at any time.
Questions
What do I need?
A WhatsApp chat with the person's voice notes, exported with media, and ChatGPT. You can also attach recordings from a phone's voice recorder (m4a, mp3, wav, ogg or opus).
Which languages work?
Voice notes are transcribed in the language they were spoken, and a mix is fine. The printed book uses Latin, Greek and Cyrillic letters; notes in other scripts can be listened to but not printed yet.
Can I make a book for someone who has died?
Yes. Many families make a memoir from the voice notes a parent or grandparent left. Heardloom asks you to confirm you are allowed to use the recordings before it keeps anything.
Do the QR codes need an app?
No. Any phone camera opens the listening page in the browser, with no account.
How long is the book?
About two one-minute voice notes fill a page. A book is 24 to 320 pages; you can leave notes out.
