Terms of use

These terms apply to Heardloom, made by The Open Apps, Inc. ("we"), in ChatGPT and on heardloom.ambientapp.ai. Last updated 14 October 2026.

Using Heardloom

  • You must be at least 13 to use Heardloom, and 18 or older (or have a parent's or guardian's permission) to order a book.
  • You may add only recordings you are allowed to use: your own, recordings the speaker agreed to, or the voice of a family member who has died that the family wants kept. You confirm this before Heardloom keeps anything.
  • Don't use Heardloom to collect or publish someone's voice against their wishes, or for anything unlawful, hateful or harassing. We may remove a memoir that breaks these terms.
  • You keep all rights to your recordings and text. You give us permission to store, transcribe, lay out and print them, and to play them on the listening pages, only to provide Heardloom to you.
  • Transcripts are made by software and can be wrong. You are responsible for checking the text before ordering; we print the book as it is when you order.

Listening pages

Listening pages are unlisted: anyone with a book, a QR code or a link can open them. We keep them online while the memoir exists, and at least five years after your last order. You can download the recordings at any time.

Printed books

  • Books are printed and shipped by Lulu to the United States and Canada. The price shown at checkout includes standard shipping; taxes are shown before you pay. The price on our checkout page is never higher than in ChatGPT for the same copies and shipping.
  • You can cancel within 2 hours of paying for a full refund. After printing starts, we can't cancel, but we replace or refund a book that arrives damaged or misprinted: write to us within 30 days of delivery with a photo.
  • If we can't ship by the date shown at checkout, we will give you a new date and the choice to cancel for a full refund.

Availability and changes

We work to keep Heardloom available but can't promise it will never be interrupted. If we ever have to stop the service, we will give at least 90 days' notice by email to everyone who ordered a book, so you can download the recordings.

We may update these terms; the date above shows the latest version.

Liability

To the extent the law allows, our liability for any claim is limited to the amount you paid for the order concerned. Nothing in these terms limits rights you have under consumer law.
