Exporting voice notes from WhatsApp
- iPhone: open the chat, tap the person's or group's name at the top, scroll down, tap Export Chat, then Attach Media. Save the ZIP to Files.
- Android: open the chat, tap ⋮ (More), More, Export chat, then Include media. Save it to Drive or your Downloads.
- Then attach the ZIP in ChatGPT and say, for example, "Turn Grandma's voice notes into a book".
"This export has no voice notes": the chat was exported without media. Export again and choose Attach Media or Include media.
The file is too big to attach: ask ChatGPT for an upload page ("Give me a Heardloom upload page"). It takes exports up to 1 GB from any browser.
Old voice notes are missing: for very long chats WhatsApp puts only the most recent messages in an export with media. Family members who have older notes in their own chats can export those and add them to the same memoir.
Transcripts and chapters
- Transcription takes about half as long as the recordings on our server; the card shows progress.
- Fix a misheard word by tapping the note in the card, or ask ChatGPT. The original transcript is kept, and you can restore it.
- Leave a note out of the book with its switch in the card; it still plays on the listening page.
- Ask ChatGPT to suggest chapter titles once everything is transcribed.
Printing and orders
- Books ship to the United States and Canada. Your order page (linked in your confirmation email) shows the status and tracking.
- To cancel within 2 hours of paying, or to report a damaged book, write to us with your order reference (HRL-…).
Deleting
Ask ChatGPT "Delete my Heardloom memoir", or write to us. Recordings, transcripts and listening pages are deleted at once.
